Fernwood Cottage WORKING BOARDS

Go everywhere. Do anything!

Fernwood Cottage crafts multi-use working boards to help you turn your harvest into delicious meals.  Whether kneading sourdough, chopping fresh herbs, or presenting charcuterie to friends, our working boards make hard work look ~ beautiful!

Working boards are hand crafted from our own Maine rock-hard, rock maple so they stand-up to cutting.  The close grained wood of Maine's rock maple makes it perfect to help prevent food from "seeping" into your board.  Legacy cherry wood creates a lovely contrast.  Sized right for the purpose, always designed for ease of use (check out the handle on our chopping board!). We then hand-finish with linseed oil and top-coat with tung oil for a natural, food-safe sealing of the wood.    **Reminder, these are "yet to be created" products.

Bread Boards

$60.00

Breadboards were essential to any working kitchen ~ when everyone made bread daily!  Think of them as countertops that you can clean in the sink.  This working board can do it all.  Cutting, kneading, serving.  The tongue-in-groove "breadboard ends" are made in legacy cherry wood.  Our own Maine native rock maple performs perfectly as a clean working surface.  Finished with tung oil and hand-burnished so that sourdough won't stick.  **Reminder, this is for a "yet to be created" product.

Cutting Boards

$40.00

Simple is beautiful! Our traditional-shaped cutting board is modeled after those seen hanging in Grammie's kitchen. While we call this a "cutting board" it can be used for anything! Think serving pizza at the table, or a charcuterie display.  Made of rock-hard, native Maine rock maple for durability; and, thanks to the wood's tight-grain and tung-oil finish, you'll have less worry about staining and food juices penetrating. **Reminder, this is for a "yet to be created" product.

Chopping Boards

$40.00

Moving around the kitchen, processing your harvest, sometimes you need more than one working board!  Our unique, circular "chopping board" is perfect for cutting up smaller items, like prepping herbs for a sauce, or slicing a garden-ripe tomato.  We love it as a fantastic cheese and cracker board!  Made with rock-hard, rock maple from our woodlot at Fernwood Cottage, this little gem goes wherever you do.  Use the lovely little turned cherry handle to move, serve, and steady.  **Crafted on order.

Winter is great for cooking!

The cold weather in Maine is perfect for baking.

Our Kitchen Tools stand up to daily use, but look beautiful doing it.

PLEASE NOTE:  It is still too cold for steam-bending, therefore, we stop Trug making until Spring.  You will be able to put yourself on the Trug Pre-Order list, however, & we will fill your order first thing once we can get back outside!  Thanks for your patronage.
