- We ship certain items anywhere within the contiguous United States.
- Please note that we currently don’t offer shipping outside of the United States.
PURCHASING:
- IN STOCK ITEMS: Periodically we list already completed items for sale on our website, these are overstock items or items created during an extended production run. Once payment is for received for one of these items, we make every attempt to ship them out to you within 2 business days. To be notified when new pieces are to become available, please use the contact form & ask to be added to the "What's New at Fernwood" list.
- PRE-ORDERS: Items purchased in this way are made to order. When ordering in this way payment is due upon checkout, but delivery time will vary (typically 4-6 weeks). Purchases can be cancelled and the full purchase price refunded anytime up until the time of shipment (see “order cancellation” below). To cancel an order please contact us ASAP using the contact form on the homepage with the details of your order (date, item, your full name, etc. - please include full contact information).
- WHOLESALE ORDERS: Please contact us directly to discuss wholesale purchasing. Wholesale pricing, item availability, & minimum purchase thresholds are subject to change. For the most current listings, please refer to our Wholesale Page & Price List.
ORDER CANCELLATION:
- Retail orders may be cancelled and payments fully refunded anytime prior to shipment with the following clarification: Once a shipping label has been created, the order can no longer be cancelled. Please see our Replacement/Return Policy below.
- Wholesale orders may not be fully refundable. However, please contact us ASAP if you need to make any changes to your order & we will work hard to come to mutually agreeable terms.
GUARANTEE:
- We want you to be happy with your purchase. If you have issues with any of our cottageware items, please contact us. We’ll do our best to make it right. Please see our Replacement/Return Policy below.
TAXES:
- Sales Taxes are included in the price of any retail item.
SHIPPING POLICY:
- Cottageware items are being shipped from Maine. Please allow up to 7 days, via standard shipping method, for delivery.
- Carrier: Dependent upon package size and weight orders will be shipped via U.S. Postal Service or UPS.
- We will provide a tracking number to you once the item has shipped. We typically do not request a signature confirmation and the package may be left at your door - we are not responsible for any missing or stolen packages after the shipper has marked the item as delivered. If this is a concern please let us know prior to shipment and we will provide a signature confirmation request at no cost to you.
REPLACEMENT & RETURN POLICY:
Fernwood Cottage takes great care to produce quality woodenware for your use for years to come. We anticipate that with proper care, your woodenware item will easily stand up to extended proper use. However, wood is a LIVING thing. On occasion, it doesn’t behave exactly as planned. Fernwood Cottage trugs and other wooden products are made through a process of steam bending and form shaping, which requires soaking, steaming, and manipulation of the wood while wet. As the wood dries, it can check, which is a natural result of the drying process. This in no way diminishes the strength, structure, or use of the product.
However, recognizing that unanticipated things do occasionally occur, Fernwood Cottage will REPLACE a damaged basket due to material failure or assembly defects within these circumstances:
- IF rims or handles of baskets splinter or fracture making the basket unusable Fernwood Cottage will replace it within 6 months from purchase date, provided normal use and recommended care has been taken.
- Checked (cracked/split) strakes (basket body wood) will be replaced up to 60 days from purchase date provided normal use and recommended care has been taken.
- Replacements will be of approximate size, style, and value – given the uniqueness of each product exact replication is impossible.
We will accept RETURNS and issue a refund (minus shipping fees) within 7 days of product delivery. Products must be returned in the same condition in which they were received.

- Contact us ASAP to indicate you wish to return the item.
- Return shipping charges are the responsibility of the person making the return.

- Please hold onto your return shipping receipt, as we cannot be responsible for packages lost during transit.
- Upon receipt of your return we will process a refund for the cost of the product (minus shipping fees).
DAMAGED DURING SHIPPING?
- Keep all packaging as is – do not discard anything.
- If you’re present during delivery, have the carrier make note of any obvious damage to the package.
- If product damage is discovered after receipt of package contact us ASAP. We will work with you to generate a return shipping label. Once we receive the damaged item we will arrange for replacement of the product.
